Liebherr-Werk Ehingen is exhibiting for the first time its 400t LR 1400/1, which has a 91m lattice jib. The universal jib system allows the combination of main and fly jib in normal or reinforced versions, with the derrick jib used to boost load capacity, and with up to 250t of derrick ballast. Liebherr-Werk Nenzing is presenting the 90t capacity LR 853 and the 200t LR 893. The LR 893, which competes with the likes of the Manitowoc 888, claims a high load-carrying capacity with main or luffing jibs and has two winches for higher rope speeds.

For its part, Manitowoc is introducing the upgraded version of its successful M-250 lattice boom crawler, first seen at Bauma 1992. The 2250 (the M designation is dropped) has had its maximum lifting capacity increased from 250t to 272t. It also claims to have 40% more lifting capacity than the M-250 at radii where crane stability limits lifting capability. A new crawler drive system gives 8% more power and permits crawler removal without disconnecting hydraulic hoses. A further new feature is a new cab, based on that of the 777, and extra sheet metal and acoustic insulation for quieter operation. The first 2250 to be made will be at the show before travelling on to Portugal where it has been bought by a contractor which will use it for building a jetty.

Manitowoc will also be showing its recently introduced luffing version of the 160t-capacity 777, which gives a maximum combination of 54.9m plus 51.8m.

Sennebogen is using Bauma to launch its new flagship, the 6180 HD lattice boom crawler crane, which competes in the 180t class. Along with its telescopic cranes and materials handling products (its Green Line), Sennebogen also promises to spring us all a surprise: “Furnishing proof of its typical innovative power, Sennebogen is going to present yet another novelty at this year’s Bauma,” the company announced at a press preview January. “The machine, with its future-oriented technology, will not be unveiled until Bauma however. The surprise will be presented to you in full detail at the fair.”
