Although the show is heavily biased to the Italian market – only 4% of its 168,000 visitors to the last tower crane year, in 2004, were foreign – still the Italian market drives small tower cranes like no other (with the possible exception of China).

Although the big boys will be saving their surprises for Germany’s Bauma in April next year, expect many interesting new cranes, particularly the smaller ones, to be had from the smaller players.

Last year’s event had 2,250 exhibitors spread out over 220,000 sq m of exhibition space in 18 halls and six outdoor areas, although the cranes this year are mostly in outdoor areas 44 and 48. This year also features a safety conference programme, 10 years on from the implementation of the European machinery directive.
