MICROSEN DRIVES were very popular in the 1970s as a cheap way to get variable speed drives. Many of the cranes we are called to advise on still have them, usually on the hoist drive but also on luff and other motions in some cases.
They were made originally by EMB Ltd in West Bromwich in the UK, but EMB went off the scene some years ago. AID in Walsall carried on servicing them and also making the occasional new one, I believe, but they have now gone too. Do any readers know if anyone has taken up the service business ? None of my contacts have any information.
